Q&A: Should we still try to get pregnant if im pretty sure I have a yeast infection?

Question by : Should we still try to get pregnant if im pretty sure I have a yeast infection?
We have been ttc for 6 months, pretty sure i have a yeast infection but my fertile time is now!!!!! We both want to get going for it but is that a good idea? Can i treat a yeast infection if I am pregnant and will it affect anything?

Best answer:

Answer by RockSteady
It may actually hinder your chances of becoming pregnant, but I would start treatment for it right away. If you tell your Dr you’re ttc they will give you something safe for baby to be. I would put a call into your Dr tomorrow so you don’t miss this window of op for the month and Good Luck!!

Q&A: Does a yeast infection caused a missed period?

Question by proud mommy of twins: Does a yeast infection caused a missed period?
I have had a yeast infection before. But now Im itching again down there and my period hasn’t shown though I already went through pms last week. Two questions:

1- can a yeast infection be the cause of my missed period?

2-Can the internal vaginal procedures cause a Yeast infection? I went through a pelvic ultrasound and a HSG within two weeks of eachother about three weeks ago.

Best answer:

Answer by Faye
Yes, a yeast infection can be related to a late period, but it’s not necessarily the cause. (It could be hormone changes that cause the yeast infection AND the late period.) Before treating the yeast infection, take a pregnancy test, just in case! If you are pregnant, it would be best to discuss with a doctor before using anything over the counter — some types of yeast infection medicine explicitly say not for use while pregnant, but you won’t know that until you read the fine print inside after purchase!

How can you tell when I yeast infection is curing?

Question by Annie is okay but not us 🙁: How can you tell when I yeast infection is curing?
I’m a 14 year old virgin and I think I have a yeast infection because I had some itching and a little bit of a fishy smell. So I went to my doctor and he prescribed me this pill that I take orally.I took it about 2 hours ago and now my vulva is itching badly. Is this a sign that it is clearing up because it wasn’t itching before I took the pill and if not, then can you tell when it is curing?

Best answer:

Answer by Detroit Cutie
Okay if you smell fishy that isn’t a yeast infection that’s something different like a Hygiene issue.

The itching is a symptom of a yeast infection. DO NOT SCRATCH IT.
If he gave you a diflucan or an antifungal pill it should clear up in a day or two.

KEEP THE AREA DRY AND CLEAN! This will help with the itching.

To prevent a yeast infection in the future eat a lot of yogurt, stay away from a lot of sugar, don’t wear your pants too tight and try to keep the area as dry and clean as possible.

If my antibiotics caused an oral yeast infection, do I stop taking them?

Question by Barbara: If my antibiotics caused an oral yeast infection, do I stop taking them?
Or do I keep taking them and treat the yeast infection at the same time?

You finish the antibiotics and treat the infection at the same time. You may also have to do another treatment after you finish the antibiotics.

Is doing a Candida Cleanse safe for you?

Question by Cherrigirl22: Is doing a Candida Cleanse safe for you?
I was just wondering if doing a Candida Cleanse is safe for you because I tried one and I saw a alot of yeast coming out in my stools.

Best answer:

Answer by Springtime!! Woohooo!!

Yes, perfectly safe. EVERYONE should do one at least once a month, and mind you, a yeast infection (systemic) can happen to anyone. Keepproper body ph, like around 7 or 7.5, and this will never be necessary. You can get a kit from a health food store or online that will show you approximately what it is.

There are a variety of ways to raise your ph, the best being through proper diet. Most Americans are very acidic and more susceptible to diseases of many a sort.

Lemon squeezed in water, great starter. Fending off processed foods for a bit and eating raw fruits and veggies help dramatically. If you are looking for speedy recovery, try eating lots of oregano in your food OR you can get oregano oil, withwhich you will notice almost immediate results, though oregano oil tends to be expensive its a good investment. Dont be fooled though by imitations, like the NOW product line, which are all artificial. Try Oreganol, good product.

Good luck!

Q&A: Can eating sugar produce a smell from a yeast infection?

Question by NYC123: Can eating sugar produce a smell from a yeast infection?
I have a bad yeast infection, which has caused a kind of sour smell. I know that sugar feeds yeast infections and I have been trying to stay away from it, but I have had sugar and carbs while treating it. By eating these things, could the smell actually become worse//stronger? And when the yeast infection clears there shouldnt be a smell when I eat sugar right?

Best answer:

Answer by EROS7776
It would be best to try to avoid sugar and carbohydrates in general while having a yeast infection because it can make it harder to cure. It isn’t just sugar, but flour, pasta, rice, white bread, any high glycemic carbohydrate that feeds yeast. The smell is worse because the infection is worse. Once the yeast infection is completely gone, it should not bother you to eat sugar.

good luck..

I’m experiencing pain while urinating. How can I tell if it is from a yeast infection or a bladder infection?

Question by Lindsey C: I’m experiencing pain while urinating. How can I tell if it is from a yeast infection or a bladder infection?
So, I’m experiencing pain (burning) while urinating and some itching. How can I tell if it’s a yeast infection or a bladder infection? I’m not really sure how to tell the difference as the symptoms are similar. I’ve had both and I’ve been to the doctor (so please don’t just say, go see a doc) previously, but I’m still unsure how to determine which one it is.
Thanks.
ETA: I’m currently on my period, so it’s a little difficult to tell if I have any discharge (which is also why I was thinking it was a yeast infection-because I use pads as I get horrible cramps when I use tampons). Thanks for all your help!

If you have a yeast infection, you will notice a lumpy, yellowish discharge with a fishy odor. Yeast infections are most common either right before or just after your period due to the pH imbalance around your vaginal area.

A UTI (urinary tract infection) causes burning while urinating, and you feel the urge to urinate more frequently, but only actually pee a small amount.

can you take castor oil while on probiotics?

Question by xxno identityxx: can you take castor oil while on probiotics?
would the castor oil, taking it as a laxative, flush out the good bacteria too though?
oh yh, and can castor oil flush out an overgrowth of yeast- candida?

Best answer:

Answer by Dr. T
Yes, castor oil (taken orally) will flush out the good bacteria simply because it typically causes diarrhea.

Yes, taking probiotics afterward will help to replete the proper flora. I’d advise that you take the probiotics about 2 hours after the castor oil.

No, castor will not have a significant impact on candida (yeast overgrowth) directly. Note that depleting the good bacteria can give the candida a competitive edge, so if there is a candida issue the probiotic is really important.

Final note – occasionally using castor oil to treat constipation is fine. But it’s not a good option for recurring problems.

Q&A: Best affordable brand of yogurt to use for yeast infection?

Question by Kathryn Brooks: Best affordable brand of yogurt to use for yeast infection?
Hi I was wondering what brand of yogurt is good and works for a yeast infection and the best way to insert it into vagina. Should I put it in with fingers? Should I dip a tampon in the yogurt then put it in or could I fill a tampon applicator with yogurt, freeze it, then insert it?

Thanks for all answers.

Answer by Monica

I wouldn’t use yogurt for yeast infections. Where did you hear that from? My doctor told me drinking cranberry juice is good for the bladder and infections. As home remedy this may be a good choice to go for.

For a more formal and better treatment, you can just go to your local pharmacy and buy an over the counter medicine for yeast infections. Many women have problems like these. So finding these products shouldn’t be difficult. I would ask someone who works their to help you find it.

As someone that has a vagina, I know that douching can cause yeast infections because it kills all the bacteria even the ones that help clean the vagina. It also increases your chances of getting yeast infections. Many doctors would advise you against using a douchebag because it causes a lot of problems such as yeast infections.

Douching is bad in general, it interrupts the PH balance in your vagina.
