Could be your diet.

Vaginal yeast infections occur when new yeast is introduced into the vaginal area, or when there is an increase in the quantity of yeast already present in the vagina relative to the quantity of normal bacteria.

If you have diabetes mellitus or are pregnant or taking oral contraceptives (birth control pills) or antibiotics you may get an infection. The use of douches or perfumed vaginal hygiene sprays may also increase a woman’s risk of developing a vaginal yeast infection. Improper ventilation – say wearing nylons too long, tight pants, etc, can contribute to getting an infection.

Consider going on a yeast-free diet, no sugar (as sugar feeds yeast), no alcohol – so no cakes, candy, sweets, etc.

*Take Lots of acidophilus/probiotics or eat Unsweetened Yogurt
*Avoid tight jeans and other tight trousers
*Wear cotton underwear during the day
*Wear no underwear to bed
*Put a tsp of apple cider vinegar in a 6-8 ounce glass of water and drink it 2-3 times a day.

Q&A: Does a yeast infection caused a missed period?

Question by proud mommy of twins: Does a yeast infection caused a missed period?
I have had a yeast infection before. But now Im itching again down there and my period hasn’t shown though I already went through pms last week. Two questions:

1- can a yeast infection be the cause of my missed period?

2-Can the internal vaginal procedures cause a Yeast infection? I went through a pelvic ultrasound and a HSG within two weeks of eachother about three weeks ago.

Yes, a yeast infection can be related to a late period, but it’s not necessarily the cause. (It could be hormone changes that cause the yeast infection AND the late period.) Before treating the yeast infection, take a pregnancy test, just in case! If you are pregnant, it would be best to discuss with a doctor before using anything over the counter — some types of yeast infection medicine explicitly say not for use while pregnant, but you won’t know that until you read the fine print inside after purchase!

Q&A: Can you get your period while treating a yeast infection?

Question by Sgath: Can you get your period while treating a yeast infection?
I appeared to have gotten a yeast infection about a week or so, i left it for about 3 days before i went and got medication. On the second of three days of treatment I noticed there was blood in my discharge. Yesterday being the third day of treatment there was only a little bit of blood and today there is still blood. Is this normal?

Yes. There is no reason your body would skip your period on account of a yeast infection. Menses sensation can occur for things like super low body weight or high stress levels, but a yeast infection would not be considered anything that stressful.
