is douching bad for candida infection?

Question by : is douching bad for candida infection?
I was looking up symptoms for a vaginal problem I was having and it seems I have candida infection aka yeast infection.
I was able to locate the items I needed to buy (monistat/miconazole) but I was wondering if douching would irritate it more?
I’m making a doctor’s appt in the mean time.

Douching is bad in general, it interrupts the PH balance in your vagina.

How should I tell my OBGYN that I think I have a yeast infection?

Question by Cory: How should I tell my OBGYN that I think I have a yeast infection?
So I’m 18 and I think I have a yeast infection and I’m seeing my OBGYN tomorrow about my birth control. How should I bring up/tell her that I think I have a yeast infection. It’s kind of embarrassing having to ask if I have it. I’m too embarrassed to even tell my mom.

Just ask what the symptoms of a yeast infection are. They will explain it and then either ask why or wait for you to tell them you think you have one. They may or may not need to do an exam and take a swab, but they can also recommend some treatments that will help. Most are OTC

How does yeast/Candida leave your body?

Question by KW: How does yeast/Cadida leave your body?
And how will I know if the candida diet and probiotics are working?

Best answer:

Answer by IMGold
You will know if the diet and probiotics are working when you stop having symptoms. Of course, it depends on the severity of your symptoms.

I had severe yeast problems – since 1987 after a hysterectomy and it seemed like my body turned on itself. No matter how many diets and probiotics I took, I still had symptoms. Even when the itching, burning symptoms went away – sometimes only because of a prescription drug – the discomfort in my abdomen remained. I was informed I had “systemic yeast” and would probably just have to “learn to live with it,” take probiotics all the time and still end up with the heavy prescription drug when necessary.

Answer by Sushi Fish
Last time I had a yeast infection, I got a horrible rash all around the tops of my thighs and around my underwear line. It lasted a few weeks, but after I started using medicated cream it went away in about 5-6 days.

Q&A: What is the treatment of Candida in women?

Question by Rakyz: What is the treatment of Candida in women?
Detailly its sort of itching of the pubic area mostly in women.

You need to see your gynecologist regarding this. She would be in the best position to prescribe you a medicine. Canesten is a good brand, and it comes in creams and vaginal tablets. Diflucan is also good, and is a one-time pill, if i remember it right.

Being overweight can also be a cause for frequent infection– as yeast likes sugar. A good diet might be of help.

I would also suggest the use of cotton “breathable” panties. You need to keep the area dry, as yeast would thrive in moist warm areas.

I hope I’d been of help to you.

I don’t know what the powder is you’re referring to–if you THINK you have a yeast infection but aren’t sure, please see a doctor to find out, as other infections can have similar symptoms. It is usually a cream or a pill that is prescribed to treat it. Also, OTC creams can work, and there are detailed instructions with the packaging. I don’t know about the powder as being something that would actually treat this.
