Question by Sury: Have you had Candida? How did you get rid of it?
How do you deal with systemic Candida? Has anyone actually been successful at curing it with the diet and pills, what the best way to get rid of systemic candida?

From Merriam-Webster on-line:

1capitalized: a genus of parasitic fungi that resemble yeasts, produce small amounts of mycelium, occur especially in the mouth, vagina, and intestinal tract where they are usually benign but can become pathogenic, and have been grouped with the imperfect fungi but are now often placed with the ascomycetes.

I’m not a doctor but I believe it can only be cured with prescription medication, some kind of antibiotic cream.

What’s The Deal With Oral Yeast Infection?

The mouth is actually predisposed to oral yeast infections. Even though some medical experts claim that it is not common, it’s still essential for us to know more information in regards to this medical phenomenon.  Oral yeast infections are typically brought about by Candida albicans. Normally, the body has a bearable amount of yeast.

The immune system and the naturally occurring good bacteria can keep the causative agent at bay but in the event that these factors are compromised, the yeast growth goes unbalanced. Medicines that interrupt with the balance of microorganisms in the mouth and could bring about thrush or oral candida infections include corticosteroids, antibiotics and even birth control pills. Diseases or other health conditions that can make candida infection more likely include uncontrolled diabetes, cancer, dry mouth and pregnancy. Those wearing dentures that are not fitting properly and smokers are usually predisposed to this disease and infection.

The oral infection due to yeast have varied symptoms like red and milk-curding patches in the mouth and surrounding oral cavity could appear if there is yeast infection present. Such patches can be hard to wipe off since they could end up in bleeding. This can be extremely inconvenient and painful to lots of people experiencing this specific infection brought about by yeast such as candida albicans.

It is a must that medicines are taken for the relief from the symptoms brought about by yeast agents. Doctors will need to run stool exams, swab sampling and blood tests before they can even give prescriptions. This will aid doctors in deciding as to what specific type of treatment will be effective. Specifically, sufferers can choose the right oral medications for their specific condition. It depends on the quality and severity of the yeast infection, individuals can opt for topical oral yeast infection cure. The anti-fungal traits of such methods will be extremely beneficial in getting rid of the yeast overgrowth in a certain part of the body.

The Best Candida Yeast Infection Treatment?

There is an effective treatment for yeast infection, albeit a bit one-dimensional treatment. Such Candida yeast infection is known as immunotherapy. In such particular treatment, patients suffering from yeast infection patients are asked to keep from eating basically every yeasty foods as well as sugary food. They are also given allergenic substance in dilute doses, typically in the form of oral drops or injection. This is to boost the immune abilities of one’s body as well as lessen the allergic response.

The method, also known as Enzyme Potentiated Desensitization (EPD), came about because of Len McEwen, M.D. (London) in the mid-60’s. The newest form of this treatment is known as Low Dose Allergens or LDA.

In such treatment, the yeast infection patient will receive up to three injections every two months and for a maximum period of two years. It depends on the response of the said patient to the therapy. The EPD treatment for candida yeast infection goes like:

For a period of ten days before the first injection, the patients are given Sporanox, which is an anti fungal for systematic candida, and De-Nol an anti- gastric ulcer agent that reduces the ability of candida to plant its roots in the mucus linings of the intestinal tract.

For around 3 days before you will be injected, patients will go through a semi-fast where they must stay away from the every food allergen combined with the intake of the following supplements that enhance the effectiveness of the EPD treatment: Zinc, Folic acid and Vitamin D3.

The response of the EPD treatment for candida yeast infection differs among patients. Some patients could actually experience sudden and dramatic improvement that would wear off in time, while others call for more doses through longer intervals until improvement will be maintained.

Either way, EPD cannot be used as a permanent solution to candida problems. Aft, EPD iser all a one-dimensional treatment that zeroes in on only the dietary and allergy reaction factor that would trigger the crazy growth of candida. The effects of EPDs will wear off in time. If you have known gut problems, bacterial infections, parasites or systematic candida, EPD cannot work.

Is doing a Candida Cleanse safe for you?

Question by Cherrigirl22: Is doing a Candida Cleanse safe for you?
I was just wondering if doing a Candida Cleanse is safe for you because I tried one and I saw a alot of yeast coming out in my stools.

Best answer:

Answer by Springtime!! Woohooo!!

Yes, perfectly safe. EVERYONE should do one at least once a month, and mind you, a yeast infection (systemic) can happen to anyone. Keepproper body ph, like around 7 or 7.5, and this will never be necessary. You can get a kit from a health food store or online that will show you approximately what it is.

There are a variety of ways to raise your ph, the best being through proper diet. Most Americans are very acidic and more susceptible to diseases of many a sort.

Lemon squeezed in water, great starter. Fending off processed foods for a bit and eating raw fruits and veggies help dramatically. If you are looking for speedy recovery, try eating lots of oregano in your food OR you can get oregano oil, withwhich you will notice almost immediate results, though oregano oil tends to be expensive its a good investment. Dont be fooled though by imitations, like the NOW product line, which are all artificial. Try Oreganol, good product.

Good luck!

can you take castor oil while on probiotics?

Question by xxno identityxx: can you take castor oil while on probiotics?
would the castor oil, taking it as a laxative, flush out the good bacteria too though?
oh yh, and can castor oil flush out an overgrowth of yeast- candida?

Best answer:

Answer by Dr. T
Yes, castor oil (taken orally) will flush out the good bacteria simply because it typically causes diarrhea.

Yes, taking probiotics afterward will help to replete the proper flora. I’d advise that you take the probiotics about 2 hours after the castor oil.

No, castor will not have a significant impact on candida (yeast overgrowth) directly. Note that depleting the good bacteria can give the candida a competitive edge, so if there is a candida issue the probiotic is really important.

Final note – occasionally using castor oil to treat constipation is fine. But it’s not a good option for recurring problems.

Q&A: Is yogurt okay on a Candida diet?

Question by Juanita S: Is yogurt okay on a Candida diet?
I’ve been reading over 2 different diets for Candida and one says to have yogurt and the other says not to. One says you can have lemons and limes and the other says not to. One say you can have carrots and the other says not to? Which diet should I go by? Do you have any reccommendations for a Candida diet, and what about the yogurt?

Answer by SALLI58
As long as it doesn’t have sugar it should be okay.
Foods to Eat

Vegetables (including plenty of raw garlic), protein foods (beef, chicken, eggs, fish), live yogurt cultures (both dairy and non-dairy,) FOS*, whey, acidophilus, green algae’s (such as spirulina and chlorella), nuts, seeds and oils, and non-glutenous grains (like millet, rice, rice bran and oat bran).
* FOS, or Fructo-oligosaccharides, are nondigestible dietary fibers that help to keep the stomach and bowels healthy. FOS are considered a “prebiotic” because they nourish the naturally present “friendly” bacteria (especially Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli) which help to ward off infection in the digestive system.
Foods to Avoid

Aged cheeses, alcohol, chocolate, dried fruits, fresh fruits, fermented foods, mushrooms, vinegar, glutenous foods (wheat, rye, oats, barley), all sugars, honeys and syrups (that includes any ‘ose’, like lactose, sucrose etc), and foods that contain yeast or mold (breads, muffins, cakes, baked goods, cheese, dried fruits, melons, peanuts – although nutritional and brewer’s yeasts are not harmful, as they do not colonize in the intestines).

What are some of the most powerful ways to eliminate Candida from the body?

Question by Look Its Jay: What are some of the most powerful ways to eliminate Candida from the body?
I have 2 persistent skin infections so it might be best for me to tackle the problem at its core, rather than superficially.

Best answer:

You can control candida by diet, as its a yeast infection. Get a proper diagnosis first as it may be something else such as eczema which requires different treatment.

Q&A: What is the treatment of Candida in women?

Question by Rakyz: What is the treatment of Candida in women?
Detailly its sort of itching of the pubic area mostly in women.

Best answer:

Answer by Hearts

You need to see your gynecologist regarding this. She would be in the best position to prescribe you a medicine. Canesten is a good brand, and it comes in creams and vaginal tablets. Diflucan is also good, and is a one-time pill, if i remember it right.

Being overweight can also be a cause for frequent infection– as yeast likes sugar. A good diet might be of help.

I would also suggest the use of cotton “breathable” panties. You need to keep the area dry, as yeast would thrive in moist warm areas.

I hope I’d been of help to you.

Q&A: I read a website that says candida is linked to endometriosis and…?

Question by Lu: I read a website that says candida is linked to endometriosis and…?
if you clear up candida, you will clear up endometriosis. Does anyone have experience with this?

Best answer:

Answer by Tired of TTC!!
I have endometriosis and I have never had a yeast infection but to my knowledge one has nothing to do with the other. When I found out I had endometriosis it was after waking up from a tubal ligation reversal. My periods were getting heavier and more uncomfortable and I had no idea why. In any case, that surgery was in April 2008 and I have still never had a yeast infection. Endometriosis is from your body not shedding everything properly when you get your period. Yeast infections are from an overgrowth of yeast in your body. Though I would say that even if it has no effect on endometriosis it is better to get rid of yeast infections and keep them from coming back if possible. The best thing to do would be to eat yogurts like Activia every day and take some form of acidophilus too (I take fem-dophilus, which works great to keep both yeast infections and bacterial infections away).
