Pregnant and Suffering From Yeast Infection

Yeast Infection during Pregnancy

In your life, you probably have gotten a yeast infection at some point, or what is also called Candida albicans. Your vagina and urinary tract are usually affected, but it may also affect other parts. This happens to a lot of young women for the most part, so it comes as no surprise to catch it during your pregnancy. It doesn’t really differ from that when you were in your teenage years, but this time, your hormones are raging and out of control.

If you happen to be a yeast infection virgin, and now that you have it during your pregnancy, this could actually just be a mild yeast infection. Nevertheless, if you habitually have yeast infections, you must pay a visit tour gynecologist as soon as you can so he or she will be able to diagnose if you deal with something worse than just a simple yeast infection.

You might have come across facts about the pains of yeast infection, things like crazy itching and you have to rub it until it turns red, you might feel some burning sensation as you urinate. That being said, you should have your urine tested so as to be sure you’re not suffering from a bladder infection.

The female population is not the only ones that are plagued with yeast infection, men are just as unlucky. This happens usually when they are on antibiotics or when the immune system is weak and feeble. Candida symptoms would tend to surface when this happens.

In case you know very well that what you’re experiencing is just a yeast infection during pregnancy, you can try some over the counter creams to treat acute Candida symptoms.

If you happen to be pregnant and don’t know how to go about treating your Candida symptoms, go ahead and visit your doctor to know which medications to resort to. You must do this in order to avoid risking the health of your baby.

Answer by RockSteady
It may actually hinder your chances of becoming pregnant, but I would start treatment for it right away. If you tell your Dr you’re ttc they will give you something safe for baby to be. I would put a call into your Dr tomorrow so you don’t miss this window of op for the month and Good Luck!!

Whats the best way to keep a yeast infection away while pregnant?

Question by Danielle H: Whats the best way to keep a yeast infection away while pregnant?
I am 20 weeks pregnant and I have a yeast infection. I went to the obgyn and they said to put creams on it and eat lots of yogurt, but most the time the creams don’t help. I was also wondering how much yogurt I should eat a day to help keep it away?

You may want to look into taking a probiotic. They are available in the vitamin section of most drug stores. Probiotics contain the active cultures that are in yogurt. Raspberry leaf tea (health food store), not raspberry flavored tea, also is good at keeping down yeast infections. Eating a couple of servings of an organic yogurt with live cultures is still a good idea even for the extra calcium, I like Stoneybrook farms. Cranberries are another help with infections. Good luck

You should go to the doctor and get a prescription. I had one too at about the same time and its the safest option. You’ll just have to pay for the appointment and meds out of pocket. Ask your doc if they will give you a discount since your self pay. And the Meds should be generic and not too pricey.

How to get rid of a yeast infection naturally while pregnant?

Do not use topical creams unless your OB/GYN recommends it. You can call your doctor and ask if AZO for yeast infections is safe. Yeast infections are very common in pregnant women. I would recommend calling your doctor first, and if you can’t get anywhere that way, try the yogurt. Like someone pointed out previously, some doctors recommend inserting a small amount of the live culture yogurt into your vagina. Yes it sounds gross, but it should work. I wouldn’t recommend using a tampon though. If you have an old medicine dropper you could use that. Or the applicator for a yeast infection cream. Good Luck!

Yes, it can definitely affect your chances of getting pregnant. Make sure you go to the Doctors to get rid of it. If you do get pregnant with the infection, there is a HUGE risk of having a miscarriage.
I know because it has happened to me before. The medicine for infections wont allow you to get pregnant but as soon as your off of it, you can try to get pregnant again.

Good Luck!
