Question by Ashleigh: How long does a yeast infection last? And how do you get it?
These past two weeks I’ve had a serious itch in my vaginal area, just realized it’s an yeast infection. I’ve dont some research but none of it gave information about about how long it could last. I’ve never had intercourse before but I have been fingered not sure if i could of gotten it from that. But let me know.

It will last until it is treated. You need an anti-fungal cream, or oral tablet to treat it. Yeast infections will not go away on their own, the yeast will continue to multiply. If this is the first time this has happened, I suggest you see your doctor, as other things can cause this sort of itching, some of which can be serious.

You can get yeast infections in a number of ways, intercourse with an infected partner being only one. If you wear tight fitting underwear (especially if it is not cotton) or tights regularly, using strongly scented soap or shower gel, or from having diabetes (the excess sugar in your urine encourages yeast growth); this is one reason I think you should check with your doctor.

Natural yogurt can help reduce the itch, but please get this checked out!
